S.W.A.T.
Special Weapons And Tactics

The purpose of the S.W.A.T. team is to complement the Department's total service program by providing for the deployment and use of special weapons and tactics when necessary to contend with an "unusual situation" that cannot be effectively handled by patrol line operations.

Deputies respond to hazardous situations every day that cause them to look danger right in the face. Violent criminals have to be taken very seriously and when the situation escalates beyond the normal Patrol Officer's capabilities, the members of the S.W.A.T. team have the equipment and experience to handle the job. Our team is currently made up of eight dedicated individuals who train vigorously once a month.

Each of the S.W.A.T. Team deputies has gone through extensive training in the use of lethal and non-lethal weapons, hostage rescue, vehicle rescue, and serving high risk warrants. The team has the experience and the methods of ending violent situations without serious harm to any of the parties involved. When our neighbors need someone to catch the most violent criminals or rescue innocent hostages, the S.W.A.T. Team knows human lives depend on its performance. So day or night, they are up to the challenge, mentally and physically ready to accept anything that comes their way.
