The Office of Levy County Sheriff's Office Senior Chaplain
Dr. James L. Lowery
Message from the Chaplain
Dr. James Lowery serves as the LCSO Senior Chaplain. Chaplain Lowery works on a volunteer basis to provide support, encouragement and confidential counseling to LCSO employees. He is available 24 hours per day. He does his best to meet with employees in their work environment in order to see first hand some of the challenges they face. Chaplain Lowery also counsels with inmates upon request.
As Senior Chaplain of Levy County Sheriff’s Department, it is my responsibility to be a help to everyone both physically and spiritually. To be present and render help in the event one would get hurt. If an ambulance is needed I would ride along and be supportive as needed and stay with that one until the family member or their pastor arrives. It may be a scary thing being hurt and being alone.
As for the spiritual part I help the employees through prayer in their time of need or help by just talking to them knowing “what is said in the office stays in the office”.
I am an ordained minister and have been for close to fifty years. I started out with the great United Methodist Church going through the course of studies with them and ending at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. After ending my internship at the United Methodist Church in Hernando, FL, I wanted more so back to school. I majored in Family Counseling and have been doing so for over forty years.
