Sheriff Robert B. McCallum

Sheriff

Bobby McCallum began his career at the Levy County Sheriff’s Office in 1969 as a dispatcher and jailer. In 1970 he began an almost seven year stint employed with the Florida Highway Patrol as a dispatcher and State Trooper. In 1977 he returned to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office serving as a Deputy Sheriff, Sergeant, and Chief Deputy until 1981. Bobby was employed by the 8th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office as an Investigator and was eventually promoted to the Executive Director of that office until 1993. In 1993 he returned to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office serving as Director of Law Enforcement and as Director of Administration until 2005. Levy County honored Bobby by electing him to serve as their Sheriff beginning January 1, 2013.

Sheriff McCallum has earned a Master Degree in Criminal Justice from Nova University and a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from the University of Florida. He received his Associate of Arts Degree from Central Florida Community College after graduating from Chiefland High School. He is a graduate of the Florida Highway Patrol Academy, National Institute for Undersheriffs at the University of Southern California and the National Crime Prevention Institute at the University of Louisville. In addition he has hundreds of hours of training in various law enforcement and specialized management courses.

Sheriff McCallum has always been active in Levy County serving as a two-term past President Levy County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, past co-chair of the Chiefland Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Campaign, and currently honorary member of the Levy County Prevention Coalition, as well as volunteering as a youth league and high school coach and as a substitute teacher. He also is a past chaplain of the Florida Intelligence Unit and past co-chair of the Northeast Florida Violent Crime Counsel. He is also a former Chiefland City Commissioner.

Bobby and his wife Kandy have two grown daughters and two grown sons. In addition they have a wonderful grandson and granddaughter who are active students at Chiefland High School.

Bobby and Kandy are active members of the First United Methodist Church of Chiefland, the same church that he attended as a child and that they raised their children.

Sheriff McCallum is thankful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Levy County and pledges to serve with professionalism, fairness, honesty and integrity.
