Professional Standards Unit

Welcome to the Levy County Sheriff's Office Professional Standards Unit.

The Professional Standards Unit is established to investigate complaints against the Agency or its employees. All Levy County Sheriffs Office supervisors are responsible for initiating a preliminary investigation into any and all complaints involving employees of the Agency and whenever practical, take action against subordinates for violations of Agency policy.

Serious violations of policy, law, and incidents that require formal or in-depth investigations that cannot be resolved by a line supervisor will be investigated by the Professional Standards Unit. Allegations can include but not limited to the following complaints: excessive force, unlawful arrests, and criminal employee misconduct.

Citizens initiating complaints referred to the Professional Standards Unit will be notified of the case assignment to the unit and periodically provide status updates when applicable. Citizens that initiate a complaint resulting in a Professional Standards Review will be notified of the findings of the investigation.

The Professional Standards Unit is committed to fully investigating and resolving all complaints referred to the unit for investigation.
